Tis' The Season!

Well have had quite a fun filled weekend. From my perspective at least. :)

Friday night we went to assignment night and out to eat with the Riley's. Which is becoming somewhat of an assignment night tradition.

Saturday morning, I took Dallas to a surprise massage I booked for him because he has been pretty stressed out lately. He loved it!

After that we went to get ready to take some family pictures for our Christmas Cards! (I hope to get them out this week!) It was FREEZING out there! But I think we managed to get a few shots in that we can use! After that, me and the ladies went to Hobby Lobby to get items to make our own wreaths! I have been wanting to do this for so long, and they all turned out so well! The best part was that our wreath supplies all totaled out to $26 bucks!

Such a great weekend! Today we did some much needed exercising, and went to the Commissary for the week. As soon as I get my pictures from our shoot yesterday, I will post some of them! :)

In Dallas news....He should  be having his first solo ride this week in the T-38! Wow- It seems like a short time, but I trust these Air Force people know what they are doing ! :)

Cheers,

Thanksgiving in beautiful Colorado!

Well our trip was awesome! We just loved being back in Colorado! It was so beautiful, with highs in the mid 50's, and lows down to 8 degrees. Perfect for some late night Hot- Tubbing at Ben's! No snow- but thats ok!

We got to Colorado pretty late on Wednesday evening/ Thursday morning. We went to sleep, and then began preparing our Thanksgiving Feast the next morning! Everything was awesome! The food was incredible and the company was even better!

Here you can see the preparation:

Thanksgiving was so great! We really enjoyed Ben and Karen and their great friends!

Friday (AKA Black Friday) I made Dallas get up around 5:30am to hit up some shopping. We went with Steve and Amy Erwin, Dallas' sponsor family from the Academy, who are basically our 2nd parents. They have always been so good to us, and treat us as well as their own blood. We did some shopping, rested a bit and had a delicious ham for dinner! It was great spending the day with these guys!

On Saturday, we went to workout with Ben and Karen at their swanky gym they belong to, grabbed a bit to eat, and went to see Love and Other Drugs. Later on Saturday, Dallas and I went to eat at the Cliff House in Manitou Springs, CO for a very, very late anniversary dinner. Well worth the wait, though. :) It was great, and brought back so many amazing memories for us.

The Cliff House all decorated for the Holiday Season!

 At our table.

Anniversary Dessert. A Raspberry Souffle'!

My goodness, he is handsome! :)
I just love my husband more than words.

And of course, some beautiful Colorado Scenery.

All in all, a really, really great trip. We had some time to relax and take it all in, and get back together with some of our very favorite people!

We also had some time to reflect and think about what we are truly thankful for in our lives, and to remember those that we miss very much.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We sure did!

Now its time to look forward to Christmas! Going home to the family in Houston, a party with some great friends, and going to Naples, FL to visit Nana and Grandpa.

Oh! And Happy Hanukkah! :)

Dollar Ride

Dallas ended up having his T-38 Dollar Ride yesterday! He said it was amazing, and "Just a little different from the T-6" :)

Dallas was cruising around western Oklahoma at about 500 mph yesterday. And the instructor said he did pretty well for the first time! Here are the pictures form the event:

G- Suit Time!

Got his parachute on!

Have I ever mentioned how hot my Hubby looks in a Flight Suit? :)

Well, He does!

Climbing In!

And thats all the pictures we got! But it was a great day for him. It was a day he has been waiting for since we arrived here at Vance Air Force Base. He had a blast! I even heard him taking off at my work! That's how loud these jets are!

On a different note, we took a few pictures of the pups tonight. And we are posting a couple because they are cute.

Stella waking up from a nap in her bed. She is pretty darn cute!

Ladies and Gentleman, this is the first time they have laid together by choice.

Today we plan on getting the house all clean, clothes washed, and start getting ready for our trip to Colorado! Woo Hoo!

11-18-1999 We Are the Aggies, The Aggies Are We.

Today is a big day for Aggies everywhere. It's a day we remember our Fallen Brothers. It's a day we unite as Texas A&M Aggies to remember one of the greatest tragedies in Texas A&M's history. November 18, 1999 the bonfire collapsed as it was being built. The bonfire used to be one of the most recognizable symbols of Aggieland. It symbolized the Aggies' burning desire to beat t.u. Now, it symbolizes rememberance and prayer for those 12 Aggies that lost their lives at 2:42a.m.

This day is especially memorable for me. I was in 6th grade when this happened, and my teacher, Mrs. Adams, lost her daughter in this accident. Miranda Adams was one of the fallen 12. When I woke up that morning 11 years ago, I remember being in shock, and crying for my teacher for her loss. It wasn't until 5 years later that I would really understand what it meant to be a part of the Aggie Family. In 2004 I was a freshman at Texas A&M University. This was the year that the Bonfire Memorial was completed, and the first time Aggies everywhere in body and spirit would come together at this grand Memorial to remember.

Each pillar represents one of the Fallen and faces in the direction of their hometown.

Aggies join at 2:42am to sing The Spirit of Aggieland on November 18. This is why I am proud to be an Aggie. One of the most touching moments of my life.

Some may boast of prowess bold
Of the school they think so grand
But there’s a spirit can ne’er be told
It’s the Spirit of Aggieland

We are the Aggies, the Aggies are we
True to each other as Aggies can be
We’ve got to fight boys
We’ve got to fight!
We’ve got to fight for Maroon and White

After they’ve boosted all the rest
Then they will come and join the best
For we are the Aggies, the Aggies are we
We’re from Texas AMC

We will always remember.

Already Slacking...

So I understand that I am already slacking on the whole blog thing.

I apologize.

We just really haven't been doing too terribly much.

So this week is the week before Thanksgiving! Next week we will be in Colorado Springs, CO catching up with great friends, taking in the beauty of Colorado (My most favorite place in the world, thus far!) and eating some delicious food!

We will be eating with our dear friends Ben and Karen Blaney, who are from the U.K. originally. They belong to a U.K. club in Colorado Springs, and are having several people over in addition to us, to celebrate with! We are bringing stuffing (Grandma's homemade Recipe!) creamed peas (Holiday Staple at my house!), and a couple of pies! I can't wait! I think its going to be a great trip, and a great way to recharge our batteries from this difficult year.

We are also going to Florida after Christmas to spend New Years with Nana and Grandpa in Naples!

Going to visit Naples is always so enjoyable and relaxing for us. The weather is beautiful all year, the shopping is great, and nothing beats Nana's cooking. Nothing. :) I am also excited because the whole (immediate) Wright Family will be going! Big Dallas, Dylan, Dallas and Me! Christmas will be spent in Houston with our families together, and overall I think its going to be a great Holiday season, I really have so much to be thankful for.

This week is also going to be Dallas' "Dollar Ride" in the T-38! I am excited!

...and nervous.

Those things go a lot faster than the T-6, and are alot older! They were built in the mid 1960's. Before we were even thought of and before technology was as advanced as it is today.

He should be getting his first ride on Wednesday or Thursday. I'll try to keep everyone posted!

Also coming up is Hanukkah.
The 8 crazy nights begin on 1 December and lasts until 9 December.
I got our Menorah out, and the Christmas Decorations are making their way out as well! I am going to attempt to make Potatoe Pancakes for D-Man! :) I love the Holiday Season.

Also in blog-worthy news:

How Bout Them Aggies!!

They definitely picked this season up from the dissapointing losses in the beginning. I think watching the game against t.u. will be a nice way to spend the turkey-induced coma on the couch-snuggled up in Colorado!! Oh and the Fightin' Texas Aggies are now Ranked! (Let's face it, its been a while....) :)

Also- I just finished Eat, Pray, Love.

Such a great book. I really enjoyed it.

The next book I am going on to is George W. Bush's Memoir- Decision Points.
I have such an interest in this man and his thoughts and feelings while some of the most historical moments of our time took place. That, and he's a Texan! :) Who doesn't love and miss George W? :)

This past weekend was fun! We had dinner with some great friends on Friday, traveled to Oklahoma City with them on Saturday, and had dinner with the Riley's and the Evan's Saturday evening in the City! We are also planning on taking our Holiday Photos this week for our Christmas Card!

That's all I have for now! Have a great Monday!

XOXO,
Megan

Friday's are the Best!

Its almost time to start the Weekend! Woo Hoo!

Good News:
We are going to Colorado Springs for Thanksgiving! We are so excited! We absolutely loved living there, and we miss it, dearly. We have a 4 day weekend for Thanksgiving, and fully intend to take advantage of it. We will be seeing some great friends that we miss, and taking our pups for the vacation as well! Hopefully, we will get to be outside and enjoy Colorado! Whatever we do, I know its going to be a great time for us!

Bad News:
Dallas is leaving on Sunday for 3 days to go to the centrifuge in San Antonio. :(

The Centrifuge is training that all soon to be fighter pilots must go through. It simulates about the equivalence of 9 G's. Apparently, on a 200 lb man, like my husband, 9 G's makes them feel like the weigh 1,800 lbs! Wow!

Here is a video I found on Youtube of the pilots having about  6 or 7 G's exerted on them! Its pretty cool (and Funny) stuff!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXQKl-28zn0

If we are realllly lucky, Dallas may come back with a DVD of his experience. Oh, and I will post it. Don't worry :)

And here is a link that really explains what the Centrifuge for future fighter pilots is all about:

Centrifuge Training

We don't really have plans this weekend except for resting, catching up with school work, and enjoying the gorgeous weather! Oh and passing out candy to the little ones that may come on Halloween.

Have a great weekend everyone!

The Evans Wedding!

This weekend, I went to Brent and Melissa's wedding. It was beautiful! We are so happy to have this couple as a part of our lives, and a big bonus is that they live in Oklahoma City which is currently only about an hour from us!

Our Sophomore year at A&M I remember Brent chiming is as I was planning my then imaginary wedding- that when he got married- he was going to get all of his groomsmen Fry Daddies- and they were going to have a fish fry for the rehearsal dinner, and then for the wedding- he wanted to have a pot luck and have his family bring their favorite dishes. Melissa didn't let that happen- but Brent got one of his requests, a dance to his favorite song: "Queen of my Double Wide Trailer"

That same year, he came to me with the biggest, most goofy smile and said: "Megan, I met someone. She has...oh you should see her smile." He stumbled over most of those words, and the part I most remember was how he was glowing when he spoke about her. He fell in love with her smile, and he told me that- even though he didn't have to- I could just see it on his face.

They got married in Houston at a wedding venue named Ashton Gardens. The day was perfect, and the most important part is that they are now Mr. and Mrs. Brent Evans! :)

Here are a few pictures from the wedding. It was wonderful!
